Military Training Courses
European helicopter Center As is proud to introduce our specially designed Military Training Program (MTP).
The training program is based on the training model used by US
Army Aviation Center based at Ft. Rucker Alabama. This model has
been given a "Scandinavian" up-date, and will give the students all
the best from the military and the civilian training syllabi's.
The course is available for most foreign students, but Non-EU
students will need the approval of the Norwegian government.
All training is overseen by highly experienced former military
IP's, many with both helicopter and fast jet experience from the
Danish and the Norwegian military.
Content of the training, as well as the style and emphasis of
the school, is partly civilian and partly military. Students may
wear the uniform of their home country. Both Civilian and Military
pilots wear uniforms during training.
The students can live at our student campus or they can stay
locally. For military pilots we recommend that they live on the
campus during the entire training course.
Initial Entry Rotary-Wing Course
European Helicopter Center AS has created a training program up
to IERW standard (Initial Entry Rotary-Wing).
The course consists of 150 hours of flight training in a
Robinson R22 and/or Robinson R44. By using these helicopters, it
will give a great saving per pilot trained.
Advanced training is normally conducted in the Bölkow BO105
(Twin-IFR), the Eurocopter AS350 Ecureuil or the Eurocopter AS355
NP (Twin-IFR). Simulator training (Instrument training) is flown on
a Sikorsky S-61 SeaKing simulator (full-flight).
The IERW training program
Our training program provides an excellent foundation for the
beginner military or police aviation pilot. During the course, the
student will be given training in very different environments, like
mountains, bush, winter/snow, parachute drops, rappelling, flying
into civilian and military airports and open water flights.
Upon completion of the course the pilot will be ready to return
to his unit for transition and operational training.
Other courses
European Helicopter Center AS has great experience in providing
training courses to meet specific needs of foreign customer. These
might include transition from military to civilian JAA/EASA
license, emergency procedure training, mountain and bush flying,
winter operation, Crew resource management training, MCC Multi Crew
Cooperation, type ratings, technical courses, Instrument training
or other courses. EHC can provide these programs either at our
training centre in Norway, or in the host country.
Training costs
Because the training model, and therefore the course structure,
of the MTP is very different from our civilian training course the
pricing is also quite different from the standard civilian prices.
As a general standard, European Helicopter Center AS will be able
to train 3-4 pilots at the same costs as sending the students to
American or European Military flight training bases.
