Conversion FAA to JAR
Pilots with training and license issued in countries outside the JAA region (Europe), typically the United States (FAA regulations) must convert their licenses to JAA licenses to work as pilots in JAA countries.
The procedure to follow is this; the candidate must follow a
full JAA approved theoretical course for CPL, ATPL or IR at an
approved JAA-school (FTO) according to JAR-FCL, pass the full
JAA-theory exam and a practical skill test with a JAA-examiner.
Theoretical training available for CPL-H, ATPL-H and
IR-H:
The theory course for CPL-H can be done at EHC, but we need a
minimum of students to be able to do the course. If you have
any question about this, please contact us.
Flying training and CPL-H skill test:
Flying training and lease of helicopter for the N-CAA skill test
can be arranged at EHC/Torp, available helicopter types are R-22,
R44, BO-105, AS355N, AS350 B2 and AS350 B3.
Training program for IR-H (ME):
Pilots having accomplished the JAA IR(H)/ATPL(H) IFR theoretical
training and passed the exam, may get an IR-H through EHC's IR-H
(ME) training program.
Course syllabus IR-H (ME):
- Type rating - 8 hours (Reduced to 3 hours if you have
multi-engine experience, application to N-CAA
needed.)
- Flight training - multiengine helicopter - 10 hours
- Skill test with a N-CAA examiner
Pilots holding a valid IR-H (ME) are hot candidates for hiring
by the offshore operators like; CHC Helikopter Service and Norsk
Helikopter. The operators are often consulting with European
Helicopter Center when hiring new pilots.
